It installs the tool
It downloads the agent from its official source and places it in a private folder in your user area. You do not need to know where it is or type any paths.
A visual guide to installing and connecting a coding assistant without using the terminal, hunting for paths or learning technical settings. If you can download a file and paste a key, you can complete this tutorial.
Before you touch anything
An agent is an assistant that works with the files in a project. You describe what you want in plain language and it reviews files, suggests changes or carries out tasks. IA Olympus Agent Installer prepares that assistant and connects it to your IA Olympus account.
It downloads the agent from its official source and places it in a private folder in your user area. You do not need to know where it is or type any paths.
You enter your IA Olympus key once. The app verifies that it works and prepares the agent to use your account.
At the end, you see what is installed, what is configured and whether the connection was validated. Then you can open the agent from the app itself.
Checklist
You do not need to prepare anything else. The app checks these points and tells you exactly what is missing if something does not meet the requirements.
Choose your format
Both options install the same application. Choose AppImage for a portable file, or DEB if your distribution prefers system installers. You do not need Node.js to open this application.
IA-Olympus-Agent-Installer-x86_64.AppImage
A single file. It can run without installing anything into the system and is the easiest option for a first try.
Download AppImageiaolympus-agent-installer_amd64.deb
For Debian, Ubuntu and compatible distributions. It opens in the software centre and is added to the application menu.
Download DEBRight-click the file, open Properties → Permissions and enable Allow executing file as program. Then double-click it again.
If your distribution still does not open it, use the DEB package. It is the simpler alternative and requires no commands.
Double-click the downloaded file. Your distribution's software centre opens; click Install and confirm. When it finishes, search for IA Olympus Agent Installer in the application menu.
If your system does not offer that option, ask for help before using the terminal. Do not copy commands from unknown websites.

These are real screenshots of the application on Linux. The pointer and yellow label mark the element being described. Click any image to see it at full size.
After installing the AppImage or DEB, open IA Olympus Agent Installer. The first time, a welcome screen explains the whole process in four ideas: choose, install, connect and check.
At the top right there are two separate buttons: Español and English. The highlighted button shows the active language. The app detects your system language on first launch, but you can change it at any time.
The left column lists the eight catalog agents. Each row has an icon, a short explanation and a status. The search box finds agents by name or function; the Status menu filters the list. This computer: Linux reminds you which system you are using.
The right panel is written so that you do not need technical knowledge. It explains what the agent is for, what you can do with it, which permissions it asks for, how long it takes and how much space it needs. It also says whether it uses IA Olympus balance.
Before touching your computer, the app shows a summary: which agent will be installed, in which private folder, which configuration file will be prepared and which method will be used. Agents that do not need administrator access will not ask for your system password.
The bar at the bottom shows the current phase and a percentage. It may take a few minutes depending on your connection. Do not close the window or turn off the computer during this step.
When installation finishes, the Connect your IA Olympus account dialog appears. The key looks like sk-iaolympus-…. Use Paste instead of typing it by hand. You can use Show and Hide to check that it is complete.
When you save, the app checks that the key is valid and that your account can use IA Olympus's public models. This is what separates a working key from one that is mistyped, expired or revoked.
The final screen separates three things that are not the same: installed, configured and connection validated. If all three are green, the tool is ready to use. Click Open agent.
Next time you open the assistant, the agent appears as Already installed. From its panel you can reconfigure, repair, test the connection or uninstall it. There is no need to install a second copy.
Qoder is listed so you know it exists, but it is disabled. Its current assistant does not allow a custom base URL. The app therefore neither installs it nor advertises it as compatible: doing so another way would be unsafe and could break your account.
This agent has no reliable silent installer. Instead of pretending to install it automatically, the app opens the official download and walks you through the steps. Once the tool is detected, the app prepares its local model file for IA Olympus.
Read the screen
If a requirement is missing, the app blocks only the affected agent. The others remain available. Node.js is never installed and elevated access is never requested silently.
| Status | What it means | What you can do |
|---|---|---|
| Available | The agent can be installed and no known requirement is missing. | Click Install and review the summary. |
| Requires Node.js | Node.js is missing or the installed version is below the agent's minimum. | Open the official Node.js page and Check again. The app does not install or update it by itself. |
| Requires WSL2 | The agent needs WSL2 on Windows. This does not apply on Linux. | Read the explanation, open the official guide and check again. |
| Requires guided installation | There is no reliable silent installer. | Open the official download, follow the steps and check again. |
| Already installed | The app detected an existing installation. | Reconfigure, repair, test the connection or uninstall. It is not duplicated. |
| Not available | The agent cannot be used safely in this version. | Read the reason and do not force an unsafe configuration. |
| Requires administrator permission | Installation needs a specific elevation. | Review the exact command and give consent before it runs. |
After installation
You do not need to install the assistant again to change your mind. Open the same application and work with the agent already shown in the list.
Reconnect the account or change settings without duplicating files or configuration blocks.
Rebuild what is missing while preserving what already belongs to you. A backup is kept before modifying a file.
Check that IA Olympus responds and both public models are available. It starts no conversation and consumes no model tokens.
Remove the program installed by this app and its IA Olympus configuration. The key is removed separately from Key stored.
Launch the agent with the connection already prepared. If it does not open, review the final-screen instructions and troubleshooting.
Detect dependencies and statuses again after installing Node.js, WSL2 or a guided tool.
Privacy and control
The application is designed to ask for as little as possible and explain what it does. These are the guarantees you can check in the interface and in the project documentation.
No keys, authorization headers, cookies or complete service responses are written to visible logs.
The keyring is used when available. If there is none, local encryption with restricted permissions is used and the app clearly warns you.
The app sends no usage data, prompts, responses or project information. Conversations belong to your agent and to you.
It never installs, updates, reinstalls or uninstalls Node.js. It only checks the real version with semver and blocks the affected agent if needed.
It does not request administrator access until necessary. If needed, it shows the command and asks for explicit consent before running it.
Generated configurations point only to IA Olympus and reference the key instead of placing literal keys in files that could end up in Git.
If something does not go as expected
Start with the simplest solution. Do not disable the firewall, antivirus or system protections just to make an installation work.
Check that your browser can open a page. When the connection returns, click Check again or close and reopen the app. Installation is not reported complete if only part of a download succeeded.
Check that it starts with sk-iaolympus- and that you have not pasted leading or trailing spaces. Use Show to confirm it is complete, then click Validate and save again. If it still fails, check in your account that the key is active and has not been revoked.
Never send your key through chat, email or a screenshot.
Only the agent that needs Node.js is blocked. Click Open official Node.js page, install a compatible version and return to the app to click Check again. The application does not change your existing installation.
The app measures real free space and keeps a 512 MB safety margin. If there is not enough, it blocks installation rather than risking a full disk. Free some space and check again; some agents use 80–250 MB.
Enable execution permission in Properties → Permissions. If your distribution does not allow that, use the DEB package. Do not run the file as administrator just to bypass the warning.
Search for IA Olympus in the application menu. The app creates a shortcut in your user folder when the agent supports it. If it does not appear, return to the assistant, open the agent's panel and use Repair or Open agent.
Read the app's message: it distinguishes between network, permission, dependency and installer errors. Try again from the agent panel. Do not delete files by hand or copy configurations from older versions.
That is intentional. In this version, its assistant does not allow a custom base URL. Installing or configuring it another way would be unsafe. The app shows this transparently and does not modify your computer.
Frequently asked questions
No. The installer is designed so you can choose an agent, paste a key and open it. The agent will help you work with code, but you can start by asking it for explanations in plain language.
No. The application collects no prompts, responses or project data. IA Olympus's API does not store conversations either: each client sends its own history.
Installed means the program is present. Configured means its settings point to IA Olympus. Connection validated means the account and models responded correctly. A full conversational test is reported separately.
Yes. The app warns you and uses the safest possible local fallback with restricted permissions. Even so, protect your computer with a user account and password.
Yes. The Español and English buttons in the header switch the whole interface and are remembered for the next launch.
Because a complete installation or conversation has not been demonstrated in that environment. The app prefers to say so honestly rather than claim something works when only a configuration file was written.
If you want to make sure the file was not modified during download, compare its SHA-256 fingerprint with the published one. This is optional for normal use and is not required to install.
